On Thursday the 20th of November, the FamilySleeps research team organised a fundraiser coffee morning in the Maynooth University Biology Department in aid of AsIAm, Ireland’s National Autism Charity, and their coffee morning fundraiser campaign.
All of the Family Genomics team rallied together with their amazing baking skills, bringing everything from coffee cake and Brigadeiro, to shortbread decorated with our FamilySleeps logo!

The aim of the day was to raise funds and awareness through the Same Chance Coffee Morning Campaign for AsIAm. Their work empowers autistic people and their families, delivers training in schools and workplaces, and advocates for a society where everyone has the Same Chance to reach their full potential.
Throughout the morning, colleagues from across the department popped by for coffee, chats, and homemade treats. Thanks to the incredible generosity of everyone who visited, we raised over €400 in support of AsIAm’s work. It was lovely to see staff take a moment out of their day to connect over something that is very important to our research group and give back to the community we are trying to support through our research.
This is the second time that the research group raised funding for AsIAm as part of World Autism Awareness Day in 2021. More information can be found here .
A huge thank you to everyone who baked, donated, shared our fundraising page, or stopped by to support. From all of us in the FamilySleeps Research Team, thank you for helping us make a difference.
